People sometimes assume they have to spend a lot of money on their partner to celebrate the 14th of February. We only believe that diamond necklaces and Rolex watches are the key to happiness because modern corporate society has conditioned us to believe that love should be expressed in material form, but nothing could be further from the truth. Anybody who is inordinately impressed by an expensive gift is unavoidably lacking in the spiritual sense. If you really want to show your partner that you love them more than anyone else on Earth, why not do it from the heart and write them a Valentines Day poem.

All You Need Is Love

Before the triumph of global capitalism, February 14th was never about money or expensive gifts. If look up Valentines Day in the history books, you will find that February 14th is celebrated in remembrance of a Saint who was martyred because he refused to deny his love of Christ. Valentines is about the expression of love in its purest form. It really has nothing to do with romance or impressing your partner by giving them jewelry, or silver watches, or other material possessions.
